The Norton Museum of Art: A Wonderful Locale

The Norton Museum of Art is one of the finest museums in the Southern Florida region. It displays historical art from centuries past. This museum allows viewers to learn about art history, especially that about the region. Here are three of our favorite things about the museum.

Curator Led Virtual Discussions

The Norton Museum of Art hosts an array of virtual events for public enjoyment. The museum is currently running a curator-led program called Dynamic, Squalid, Splendid: Themes of the City. In this program, the curator has gathered drawings from the museum’s collection that center around the theme of life in the city.

The curator-led discussion takes place virtually on Facebook. It is hosted by one of the most knowledgeable curators in the museum.

Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access IDEA

One of the museums founding tenants is that it values inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. The concept is exemplified by the acronym IDEA. The museum lives this mission statement by hosting an annual diversity training.

In addition, the museum has altered the wages that it pays its employees to meet the $15 per hour minimum wage standard. The IDEA program is official, so it is audited and tracked on an annual basis for progress.

In Conversation with Maria Berrío

The museum is currently hosting a conversation with the skilled artist Maria Berrío. She partook in the 2021 RAW (Recognition of Art by Women) exhibition, with her painting Esperando Mientras la Noche Florence, or Waiting for the Night to Bloom.

The Perfect Museum Trip for a Host of Artistic Experiences

The Norton Museum of Art is the perfect location for an enriching artistic experience. You can hear from curators and artists alike about the value of the artwork in the museum. You can also expect to have a completely inclusive experience at the museum, as its mission statement includes inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.
